Maxie James takes the next steps in building her fashion empire with a bigger & better location for her re-branded clothing store, Ellaé Lisqué
What began as two separate businesses — clothing store Style House by Maxie J and Ellaé Lisqué clothing — have now converged into one powerhouse brand led by L.A. based fashion maven Maxie James. Her clothing store was already one of the only black-owned businesses located in the bustling fashion epicenter of Melrose Ave. Now, the business has evolved to exclusively feature her designs AND has moved to a new location three times its original size! To top it off, this major feat was accomplished after only 3 years in business for both brands.
During the official grand opening of the new Ellaé Lisqué flagship store on August 18th, Maxie James said this about her new business venture,
“I feel extremely accomplished, but I feel extremely overwhelmed as well; Im not gonna lie to you. This store is three times the size of my old store, so its a really huge responsibility in so many ways. Just maintaining it [is a huge responsibility]; over head wise, numbers wise, just everything. I feel good about [the store opening], it was a good turnout! I’m just trusting God with it [all] honestly. I don’t really feel ready but I’m [going to] get ready.
About Maxie James & Ellaé Lisqué
Maxie James began designing in 2014 after making the decision that her love for dancing couldn’t trump her God-given talent for fashion. She started out as a stylist but once she realized that there was a gap in the industry that she was ready to fill, she began to design her own pieces. Cue the birth of of Ellae Lisqué, a sleek and sexy women’s collection comprising of risqué pieces made for confident women who love to shine. Her brand officially launched in 2015 and it didn’t take long for Maxie J’s pieces to be spotted on the who’s who of Hollywood — including Blac Chyna, Letoya Luckett, Erica Mena, Meagan Good, Karen Civil and JLo just to name a few.
Ellaé Lisque released its premier collection with its first ever fashion show in 2015. Two years later, the show became an annual event; and an opportunity for Maxie James to provide up and coming designers with a platform to expose their brands to her high-profile audience. Her designs have also appeared at New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and her newest collection will be making its first debut at Milan Fashion Week this September. This year, she also launched Ellaé Lisque Curve, extending the size options for select designs from her past and current collections. Her third annual fashion show is set to take place in October.
Self-taught AND self-made, Maxie James has used her socialite status and her knack for fashion to build a quickly growing empire — and this is only the beginning!
